The essence of surfing is novelty with each wave promising a new experience. In the same way the process of hand crafting boards is new and novel every time. This pursuit has led me down the rabbit whole of hollow wooden boards. Wood is particularly interesting because of its organic, sustainable and aesthetic qualities. Hollow wooden boards are designed to perform like modern boards but will last twice as a long. They are repairable but when they do break down someday the materials are much more biodegradable than oil based boards.
